US energy chief says Navy to defend Hormuz until Iran backs down

The U.S. Navy has helped ensure safe passage for commercial ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz, which typically carried about a fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies before the war began on Feb. 28 with U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
