Wife says husband survived 'this time' after pulling knife on him inside shed following fight 'over the water hose': Cops

A 74-year-old Florida woman was arguing with her husband “over the water hose breaking” right before she pulled a knife on him and threatened to kill the man inside a shed where they live, cops say.

Cynthia Correll, of Archer, was arrested Saturday night after police responded to the 16000 block of SW County Road 346 following reports of a domestic dispute, according to Correll’s arrest report.

A witness reported hearing Correll and her husband arguing before the couple went into the shed where they live in Alachua County. The witness told police Correll “stated she was going to kill him (the victim) multiple times,” according to the arrest report.

Correll’s husband told police that he went into the shed and lay down on the bed when Correll approached him holding a knife, the report says.

“The victim and defendant were arguing over the water hose not working and she was yelling at him,” according to police. “The victim went into the shed they live in together and laid on the bed. The defendant came up to him with a knife, pushed it against his left shoulder/chest area, and threatened to kill him with the knife if he did not get out.”

Correll allegedly “hit the victim” in his chest multiple times as he got up and left. Her husband went into a house on the property, where he told the witness what had happened.

Correll allegedly had a two-hour standoff with cops on Saturday before her arrest. She was ordered over a loudspeaker to come out of the shed but refused, according to police.

While speaking to cops, Correll allegedly admitted to arguing with her husband but said she “did not hurt him this time.” Correll used a knife to cut her own wrist during the standoff, according to police.

Deputies transported Correll to a hospital for medical clearance before she was booked into jail. She allegedly told police that she wanted her husband to leave the shed because she was afraid she would hurt him.

Correll denied hitting her husband and possessing a knife, according to police. She also denied threatening to kill him.

Investigators later discovered a bloody knife in the shed that Correll used to cut her wrist, the arrest report says.

Correll is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence. She has no reported criminal history.
