A Florida father allegedly left his children alone at home, leading to his toddler wandering outside and walking along a busy road and other kids being left inside the residence with the stove on and smoking.
Glenn Jones, 41, stands accused of five counts of child neglect.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the investigation began shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday when a witness spotted a barefoot toddler walking alone on a busy road in the area of N. 42nd Street near the intersection of Hellenic Drive in Tampa. The witness got the child to safety and called police.

When deputies arrived in the area, they began searching for the toddler’s home. They soon realized that the toddler was not the only child in need of help.
Cops discovered the door of a home in the area wide open.
Inside, the toddler’s four young siblings were also alone, according to police. The stove in the kitchen was turned on and smoking, per deputies. The youngest children had soiled diapers. No adult was in sight, cops said.
After ensuring the kids were safe, deputies began an investigation.
It revealed that the kids’ mother was at work and Jones, their father, was supposed to be watching them.
When Jones returned home, deputies arrested him. Cops did not say where Jones went after leaving the children to their own devices or how long they were alone. A probable cause arrest affidavit was not immediately available.
Jones remains in the Hillsborough County Jail on a $25,000 bond. His next court date is not listed.
