I’m launching the Successful Innovation Learning Outcomes Notebook.
It’s a deliberately bounded experiment with independent value, built to make my work easier to explore, question, apply, and build upon through an AI-assisted interface.
To create it, I took the PDF of my book, Successful Innovation Outcomes in Law: A Practical Guide for Law Firms, Law Departments and Other Legal Organizations, combined it with my subsequent law department innovation columns, other innovation writings from over the years, and an existing protocol inside a personal Gemini Notebook.
The Italian Grandma Principle
Like the Italian grandma who gives you her recipe but intentionally leaves out a secret ingredient or two, I have intentionally left some secret ingredients out of the Successful Innovation Learning Outcomes Notebook.
That’s all I’m going to say about that.
My roughly 30-year content archive remains a separate asset and a future option for possible licensing to legal-AI companies. This experiment did not require developing that option.
Core Intent & User Responsibility
The intention here is to encourage useful experimentation while keeping responsibility where it belongs: with the user. You remain responsible for what you submit to the notebook, the questions you ask, the decisions you make based on its responses, and how you use or share those outputs.
A few operational boundaries to keep in mind:
- AI Responses & Accuracy: This notebook generates responses based on the included source materials and the information you submit. AI-generated responses may contain errors, omissions, or interpretations not stated directly in the source materials. They should not be treated as verbatim statements by me. No warranty is made as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
- Exploratory Tool Only: This is a research, learning, and exploratory tool—not a substitute for independent professional judgment. Consider confidentiality, privacy, and other obligations before submitting information. (Google currently indicates that your chats will not be viewable by me or anyone else, but you must satisfy yourself that Google’s descriptions remain accurate).
- Rights & Licensing: You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to provide and use any content you submit, and for complying with applicable laws and professional duties. Source materials identified as licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) are provided subject to those terms. That license applies to those underlying source materials, not automatically to AI-generated responses.
As always, use good judgment when using this notebook.
