A Philadelphia man traveling on the Celebrity Reflection last week is now facing federal criminal charges after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents found child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including images and videos on his cell phone and computer tablet devices when he disembarked in Port Everglades, according to Local 10 News.
A federal criminal complaint states that customs officers interviewed John Mario Galvin, age 41, and searched his cell phone and tablet.
The federal complaint states that CBP agents found more than 90 photos and videos showing boy and girl children, including “infants and toddlers,” being raped and sexually abused.
CBP said they received nine “CyberTips” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children “associated with (his) telephone number” regarding CSAM.
Galvin “declined to speak with law enforcement” before his arrest on two federal charges related to the possession and transportation of child sexual abuse material.
There have been around seven other cruise passengers who have been arrested and are being prosecuted for CSAM in the last year. This is in addition to around 307 crew members from cruise ships who have been deported for alleged possession of CSAM in the last two years, as we previously reported. All were denied due process of access to legal counsel and were quickly deported. Only two of the many hundreds of crew members have been arrested and prosecuted for CSAM.
