A middle school student in Florida was arrested this week after he threatened to stab another student in a text message, law enforcement in the Sunshine State announced.
The investigation began on Oct. 14, after the victim’s parent spoke to a school resource officer about the incident, according to a press release issued by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation ensued and law enforcement determined two students had been in what the sheriff’s office described as both “an altercation” and “a fight after school the day before.”

Following the fracas, one student borrowed another student’s cellphone to call his mother, according to law enforcement.
Then, after placing the call to his mother, the suspect allegedly texted the victim, “This (student’s name), when I catch you at school on god I will stab you b— and go tell the dean you p—y.”
The student who allegedly sent the text is not being identified due to his extremely young age, but the sheriff’s office did note that he is an 11-year-old who attends Indian Trails Middle School.
“Threatening to kill someone is a felony, regardless of how old you are, and there are serious consequences for making these threats,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement announcing the arrest.
The student was arrested on a charge of written or electronic threats to kill or do bodily harm, the sheriff’s office said.
The boy was first processed at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. After that, he was transported to the Volusia Family Resource Center and turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
In a statement, Flagler Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore suggested that parents talk to their children about reporting threats and said that the safety of students is the district’s “top priority.”
“We have zero tolerance for threats against students, faculty or staff,” the superintendent added. “We work closely with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office to maintain safe campuses.”
The sheriff also spoke about the need for parental responsibility.
“We don’t like arresting your child, but we will keep our schools safe from threats,” Staly said. “That is why we ask you to be the Sheriff of your home before we have to be.”
