'I got you America': Man who vowed to assassinate Trump was 'obsessed with killing' president, police say

A 51-year-old Pennsylvania man who allegedly referred to himself as an “assassin” is accused of threatening to kill President Donald Trump and to livestream the murders of several other government and law enforcement officials.

State police took Stacy Wayne Mann into custody last week and charged him with one count of making terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another in connection with the online posts.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police public information release, the Secret Service contacted the agency’s Political Violence Threat Unit after the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center referred it to Facebook posts allegedly authored by Mann that contained threats against government officials and law enforcement.

Investigators said the joint investigation uncovered evidence that Mann intended to “livestream” the murders of law enforcement officers, state senators and representatives, judges, district attorneys and other government officials before investigators arrested him without incident.

Court documents cited by Scranton PBS station WVIA say one July 15 Facebook post read: “I’m God’s assassin. Please America, get me next to the POTUS … I got you America.”

According to the criminal complaint, investigators reviewed roughly 30,000 Facebook posts associated with Mann’s account and found recent posts “appeared to contain threatening language” advocating the killing of government officials, including the president, members of Congress, state lawmakers, local political leaders, police officers and Jewish people.

“I noted that posts contained not only violent rhetoric calling for the death of these individuals but also threats indicating that Mann would be committing the killings himself,” a trooper reportedly wrote in the affidavit.

Among the posts cited in the complaint was one from July 16 in which Mann allegedly wrote: “I’m serious America, if I have to lived with this kind of deprivation, I’d rather kill these [expletive] and try and take as many of them with me before I go.”

Investigators also allege Mann wrote: “I already know I’m going to wind up taking a gun going live on Facebook and cutely killing a couple police officers, judges, DA, congressman, City Council members, online scream [sic] at some point.”

In another post, Mann allegedly urged Americans to “rise up” and “kill every police officer you come in [contact] with!” before adding: “Let’s kill them like the punks they are,” referring to police officers and elected officials, according to the complaint.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed Mann’s former employer, who told investigators he had recently fired Mann from a plumbing business and asked him to move out of the basement where he had been living.

According to the affidavit, the former employer described Mann as “obsessed with killing government officials” and said he talked about it constantly. The witness also reportedly told investigators Mann had “a history of violence” and routinely made Facebook posts about killing government officials and law enforcement.

A criminal history check also revealed prior convictions for robbery, aggravated assault — including assaults on law enforcement officers — drug offenses and theft, according to the complaint.

Mann was arraigned on the terroristic threats charge and ordered held on $25,000 bail, according to Lackawanna County court records. Unable to post bail, he remains in the Lackawanna County Prison.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5, records show.
