Woman stabbed her friend with scissors after he told her she was not allowed to drink a beer in their Uber: Police

A Florida woman is in jail after police said she stabbed her friend with a pair of scissors while they were in an Uber.

Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Tuesday, where she is being held on $7,500 bond. According to an arrest report reviewed by Law&Crime, Zamora and her male friend called an Uber to pick them up at the Best Western Plus Kendall Hotel & Suites in Miami, Florida, on Monday night. While they were in the back of the car and headed to another friend’s house, Zamora wanted to have a beer during the ride.

Police said her friend told her that she was not allowed to do that, and Zamora became “irritated.”

According to the report, the friend told police he had warned Zamora several times that she could not have a beer while they were in the Uber.

Uber’s website specifically states, “Drug use and open containers of alcohol are never allowed while using the Uber Marketplace Platform.” It further states that riders should “[n]ever bring illegal drugs or open containers of alcohol into a car.”

After being told she could not drink beer in the car, Zamora allegedly “removed a pair of scissors from her purse” and stabbed her friend twice, once in his biceps and once in his calf. According to the report, the Uber driver stopped the car and got out to call 911, and the friend also got out of the car.

Police met with both men at the scene to get their accounts, and the friend was transported to the hospital, where his stab wounds were treated with staples. His injuries were not life-threatening. Zamora did not provide a statement and was taken to the Hammock Police Station.

During a court hearing on Wednesday, which was covered by local Fox affiliate WSVN, Zamora’s attorney attempted to have her client moved to a hospital. Prosecutors noted that Zamora was already on probation after being convicted of battery on a person aged 65 years or older, as well as several other assault and battery convictions. She was also convicted of tampering with an electronic monitor.

The judge ordered that Zamora remain in jail. Zamora’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 12.
