New VA Video Connect features make telehealth appointments more accessible

VA Video Connect, VA’s secure videoconferencing app, has made life easier and more convenient for Veterans.

VA Video Connect now offers new features to enhance your video appointments. Update your mobile app to the latest version to start using them.

“Video appointments are always good when you don’t have serious or emergency health concerns,” said Eric Faulkner, a Navy Veteran who lives an hour away from the closest VA medical center. “It saves time. It saves you money. Anytime you’re not using gas, you’re saving money while addressing your health needs.”

New features available, including:

  • Live Caption View: See real-time captions at the bottom of the screen during VA Video Connect appointments. Turn captions on or off at any time; your preference will not affect what other participants see on the call see.
Turn on real-time captions by clicking the “CC” button at the top or bottom of the screen.
  • Historical Transcript View: While live captions are on, you can review a running transcript in the panel on the left side of the screen. To access it, open the side panel and select the CC icon. You can adjust the text size for easier reading. The transcript is available only while the video session is open. VA Video Connect audio, video, chat, live captions and historical transcript are not saved, in keeping with VA Video Connects strict focus on privacy and security. Care-related activities during the VA Video Connect session are documented by the VA healthcare provider in the electronic health record.
Review a running transcript of the call in the panel on the left side of the screen.
