Twitter (“X”) doesn’t have a limit of 280 characters anymore for premium users – and that seems to include most of the users I’m learning from and engaging.
As you go by your first 280 characters Twitter will display a message that reads “ Only the first 280 characters will be visible on the timeline.” Works akin to a headline on your article or blog post.
Your copy will just end with “Show more.”Reads like an ellipse (…). Everyone reads on beyond the 280 characters.
Premium status on Twitter (seems to cover most of the folks I’m seeing and engaging) lifted the cap from the 280 to 25,000 characters. That’s akin to 4,000 words or a short book in length. With a blog post running 500 to 800 words you’re not hitting the cap.
People read long posts on Twitter and like anywhere else they’ll stop reading when things get too long.
I often pen pieces on Twitter that I then take them over to LinkedIn and my blog.
Twitter is where I am learning by reading and engagement. LinkedIn for engagement and my blog for my readers and preservation. Social media à la Twitter and LinkedIn can turn out the lights and change the algorithms anytime, making your publishing “unfindable.” Thus the need for a blog or inclusion in a library.
I started using Twitter again over the last month and am finding it a great resource.
