Cynthia “Cindy” Rene Morrow (Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office).
A Georgia woman was convicted of performing childbirths without a license, leading to serious medical problems for two mothers and the death of a baby, authorities say.
Cynthia “Cindy” Rene Morrow, 64, was found guilty of nine charges, including one count each of practicing medicine without a license, practicing nursing without a license and possession of a dangerous drug (Pitocin), along with two counts each of unlawful practice of midwifery and reckless conduct, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.
In 2022, Morrow performed a nearly fatal home birth through her business, Birth Servant Midwifery LLC. During labor and following birth, she completed numerous medical procedures for which she was not licensed, including injecting the woman with painkillers and inserting a catheter.

The mother suffered “significant blood loss” after childbirth. But “despite her worsening condition,” Morrow waited at least five hours before calling 911 — and when she did, she asked for a non-emergency medical transport, prosecutors said.
By the time paramedics arrived, the mother was vomiting, had lost consciousness and was going into shock.
Paramedics stabilized the woman and rushed her to the hospital for “emergency treatment of a severe postpartum hemorrhage.”
Medical records revealed that the mom lost 50% of her blood. Her blood pressure had dropped to 63/35 while her heart rate skyrocketed to 139 beats per minute.
Doctors stopped the bleeding when she arrived at the hospital and provided multiple blood transfusions.
Jurors saw pictures of the IVs and expired medicines she used. They also heard from two other women whose childbirths Morrow performed. One also nearly died while the other lost her baby, according to prosecutors.
The jury convicted Morrow after about three hours of deliberation following the nine-day trial. She’s slated to be sentenced on Tuesday.
