Inset: Brady Fielding (Bonneville County Jail). Background: Idaho Falls (City of Idaho Falls).

An Idaho chiropractor has been arrested twice for pulling a woman out of an SUV and slapping his children, Gem State authorities say.

Brady Fielding, 39, stands accused of one count of domestic battery without traumatic injury against a household member and two counts of injury to a child, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges stem from two separate incidents that occurred in April and June, according to court documents obtained by East Idaho News.

On April 12, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Idaho Falls. At the scene, a woman said she and her five children were in a white Chevrolet Suburban getting ready to go to a birthday party — but Fielding allegedly had other plans.

The woman said the defendant “demanded the vehicle, stating he needed it to pick up a kitchen table,” according to the court document.

But the woman did not give up the keys or the vehicle. In turn, the man tried to take her purse, phone, and keys, deputies allege.

The woman reportedly pushed Fielding away. After that, the man went over to the front passenger’s side, where a girl was sitting, and tried to take the girl’s cellphone, according to law enforcement. Then the man allegedly went back to the driver’s side, successfully grabbed the woman’s keys, got into another car and left.

But apparently not for long.

Fielding soon drove back to the residence and “pulled (the woman) out of the vehicle by her upper arm,” according to the court document. This action allegedly left a dark red mark on the woman.

After the woman was removed, Fielding got into the driver’s seat and backed up with the doors still open, authorities said. Meanwhile, some of the children were trying to get out. Eventually, all five children got out of the SUV and the defendant drove away, deputies allege.

When speaking with deputies, the woman said Fielding had never been physically abusive before but that he had been “manipulatively abusive, controlling finances,” the court document says. Most of the children also spoke with investigators and described the incident in more or less the same way, authorities said. One child said Fielding repeatedly called the woman a “psycho” during the incident.

On April 27, a warrant was issued for the defendant’s arrest and he was arrested, booked, and released the same day.

When questioned by officers, Fielding allegedly said his children were being “disrespectful” to him and his girlfriend, according to court documents filed in the second case and obtained by East Idaho News.

The defendant allegedly went on to explain that he was trying to talk to the children about rules and discipline while they stayed with him but said the “situation escalated” to the point that he slapped a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl in the face with an open hand “due to their continued disrespect,” according to the court document.

The defendant then allegedly told the officer he “did not strike them hard enough to leave any marks” and that his “intent was to get their attention rather than cause pain,” according to law enforcement.

On June 20, at around 10:40 p.m., the Idaho Falls Police Department responded to a call about a physical disturbance at a residence.

When speaking with officers, the children said Fielding “lost his temper” and slapped them both. The girl also accused the defendant of pushing her and causing her to fall on a bed. For the second incident, Fielding was cited, released and later charged.

The defendant is slated to appear in court on July 22 for the first incident and again on Aug. 19 for the second incident.
